Designer profile
Name: Miila Ljud
Slogan: May the Finnish Footwear Industry rise again!
I want to design normal shoes to normal people to be used in normal situations in normal life. Not too brassy, not too boring.
Design philosophy:
For this collection I was inspired by Finnish nature. Last summer I saw a landscape of great spruces with fireweed in front of them. It is easy to ignore that kind of view because in Finland that time of year, it´s all over. I couldn´t help thinking, how to take some of it into my collection. I began to explore it more and more and found wonderful colors, shapes and textures from the forests and nature.
I have a tendency to see loveliness and miraculousness in little things and things that others could find really modest. I think that´s a rather childish thing in me. That´s why I wanted to bring some naivism to the collection as well.
Today's thoughts: Now I´m a third year student in HAMK Wetterhoff and if everything goes the way I have planned, I graduate in spring 2011.
Thoughts about the future: Spring is coming and it is my new favorite season. Everything starts to move and shine, grow and blossom!
To readers: Finland used to be a cutting edge country of shoes, and I want it back. Demand your shop to order better-looking Finnish shoes from the factories.
